We love the Mexican traditions of #Diadelosmuertos. It is a beautiful way to honor our loved ones that are no longer with us in physical form but are always connected to us energetically. This past summer, our best pal, Sampson crossed over. This is the first time I have written about it because I it has taken me quite a while to heal from missing his physical presence.

We are blessed by those soul who join us in this life. But we are also blessed when they cross over. Though they are no longer with us physically, they are always connected to us spiritedly. They can be with us to help us any time we need them. Death is a change in form because the soul is eternal. We never lose those we love. We are always connected; it’s a soul thing.

The world is healing and so are we.  People are letting go of their wounds and imprints and returning to a loving vibration. Love is the frequency of our souls; it’s the energy of Source that runs through all of us. The more we clear in our fields, the more the more we align and embody our higher selves.  We begin to see all experiences with love. We recognize the projections and distortions to love in our lives.  We feel love for everyone and everything.  We act with love in all situations.  Most of all, we love ourselves fully and this allows us to transform the world around us.  As we shift from ego to higher self, we transform and transmute everything. When we peel away all the ego layers, we remember we are love and so is everyone.  Always remember who you are and why you are here!

It was the day before Thanksgiving and I was walking out of the gym, as I read a text from my friend, Tara.  She said that they found her brother, Rocky; he had passed in his sleep.  I immediately called her on my cell phone.  Her tearful voice uttered the saddest words, “My Rocky’s gone.”  I felt her overwhelming grief and tears slid down my cheeks.  I wished I could hug her and make her feel better.  Tara and Rocky were very close.  She was nine years older than him; she treated him like a son and loved him like a mother.  I had the pleasure of meeting him in the spring.  Tara had a gift certificate for a healing session and she gifted it to Rocky.  The medium build, shoulder-length, brown-haired man with a carefree personality wore his trepidation on his face in the form of furrowed eyebrows and a slight frown.

“I’m not sure if I’m into all this. I’m here because of her,” he said pointing to his big sister.

 Tara and I both laughed at his comment.  I appreciated his honesty and I promised I would go easy on him.  He chuckled a bit and I watched him relax his posture.  Tara sat in the room during the session, so he would feel comfortable.  As I began reading everything Rocky stored in his energetic field and all of it resonated with him, he let go of his tension and energetic resistance. A highlight of his session included a welcomed visit from his father in spirit that warmed Rocky’s heart and made him laugh at the same time.

I admired the beautiful relationship between Tara and her brother. I could see they would do anything for each other and it was a special connection bonded with deep sibling love, trust, and compassion.  The fact that he came for the session demonstrated their connection. He was a totally laid back surfer guy, yet there he was reclining on the massage table in my office with me all in his business because his big sister said it would help him.  His session was great; there were a lot of laughs and I was glad that he let down his guard. I learned that he was a deeply kind and sensitive soul and I felt grateful that he allowed me to work in his gentle energy.

I knew there wasn’t much I could do to console Tara and take her pain away, when she called me that day.  I told her I would send her some energy, when I got home.  As I hung up the phone, I heard her uncle talking to me.  Her Uncle George, who was affectionately known as Georgie, came through in a session once with Tara and also during Rocky’s session.  I texted Tara and told her that Georgie had a message for her.  She texted back and asked me to relay the message.

“I got him.  Tell her I got him,” Georgie said.

 Tara noted that Georgie was Rocky’s Godfather and it was not surprising that they were together.  Then Georgie said to tell Tara that both he and Rocky were gonna have a lot of fun and would move stuff in the house.  Tara was at her mom’s house during the conversation and Rocky had lived with their mom, until the day he died.  As Tara read the text message out loud to her mom, a candle fell of the wall by itself and then another one fell immediately after the first one.  Tara texted back and told me that she and her mom both knew the candles were signs from Rocky and Georgie validating that they were together.  How ironic that as soon as I gave her the message, the two loved ones in spirit sent the sign.  I hoped it would help Tara’s family heal a bit.

Brayden and I attended Rocky’s viewing after school.  As I saw Tara sitting there in the front row of the funeral home, she seemed tired and run down.  Tara told me she wasn’t sleeping well and I could see by the expression on her face that she was barely holding it together.  I hugged her and told her that we would be praying for her.  The following morning, I had a visit from Rocky at 7:30am. He wanted me to get a message to Tara.  I felt it was too early and I didn’t want to disturb her because I knew it would be a stressful day for her.

“Come on, man. You can’t do me this favor?” Rocky asked.

 I felt like a total jerk at that point. How could I turn down the request from a brother in spirit of one on my friends?  I sent a text to Tara that said I have a message for you. Those who are close to me know that means I have a message from someone in spirit connected to them.  It also means, “Please get back to me because your loved one will stalk me until you respond!”

 A short while later, Tara messaged back and said, “Please give me a message.  I need to hear from him.”

 I texted everything, as Rocky said it to me. He shared very personal things about Tara and her family. He wanted all of them to know that he was ok and that he would be around to help all of them through the transition.  She thanked me and of course I said I was just the scribe, Rocky was the one to thank.

About a week after the funeral, Tara contacted me and said she was really missing Rocky and it was very hard without him.  I urged her to call to him and ask him for signs.  She then said that on the day of the funeral around 7:15am, she called out to Rocky and said,”Please send me a message, I need to hear from you today.”  Though that telepathic conversation between the two of them was unbeknownst to me, he showed up at my house 15 minutes later with a message for her.  It was just another validation that Rocky was around, listening, and trying to help all of his family members deal with and heal through his passing.  Our loved ones in spirit are always around to help us ease through their transitions from physical to spiritual form.

Much of what I know about the afterlife comes from a lifetime of communicating and working with spirits on the other side.  I share my experiences and knowledge because I think it helps others gain deeper insight into the spirit world.  I also think when we gain knowledge we release fears of the unknown.  Casting light on these topics dispels the dark veil that often hangs over them.  One of these gray shrouded topics involves the levels of spirits in the afterlife.

Many people hold the belief that when spirits cross, they automatically become God-like with omniscience, and omnipotence.  This is not the case.  Spirit evolution takes time on the other side but it is a process initiated by the level of spirituality a person is at when he physically passes-on.  In others words if someone had a substance abuse issue in life, he will not have substance abuse issue on the other side, but he will have to work out the root of why he had the issue and continue to heal on the other side.

As you know from previous articles on this blog, if a person committed suicide (not to be confused with accidental overdose passings involving substance abuse), she may need to be crossed over because this type of soul can get lost in darkness and become Earthbound.  Once crossed, a suicide soul will go to a healing place on the other side. She will not have immediate access to the Earth plane.  In addition, if she were to visit through a medium, she would not be able to speak for herself, someone would speak on her behalf.  In time, as the soul heals she will granted additional rights to access her loves ones on Earth.  The rights of a suicide victim are limited not as a form of punishment but rather, so she can be concentrate on the deep healing of her own soul.

If a person was abusive and left the Earth plane without having worked out that issue, he will continue to resolve it on the other side.  He may need forgiveness from those he abused (particularly if they were members of his family), as part of his healing process.  This type of soul will not have the same rights and access to the Earth plane as someone who had a passing without any major issues.  The abuser will not be able to visit those on the Earth plane and demand their forgiveness; he needs to be invited back.

If someone passed of substance abuse, depending on the length of the substance issue on Earth, she will have to work the root cause out on the other side.  She may need apologize to those closest to her that she hurt with her abuse problem and she will have to resolve her issues, before she’s assigned a job on the other side.   As her soul heals, she will be granted access to visit her family and clear the energy between them.

Spirits who pass under ordinary circumstances such as illness, sudden accident, etc. who do not have the above listed issues to resolve, will have readily have access to the Earth plane and their loved ones. Often, they gain knowledge and information that they did not have when they were in physical form.   This doesn’t mean they won’t have minor issues to clear with family of friends, but they can resolve them through signs, symbols, and dream visits.

On the other side, our souls continue to evolve and grow.  Sometimes that involves clearing some of the energy they have with those on the Earth plane.  Once clear, the souls will be assigned jobs and continue to work on their spiritual paths on the other side. Our job levels are related to our soul levels. For example, some souls will cross those on the Earth plane, others may work in the transition area.  Some may be guides, while other higher souls work with the spirit guides of others.  The more we clear, the higher level our souls can attain.

People always ask if spirits are all around us on the Earth plane.  The answer is “yes” and “no”.  The “yes” part is because spirits are always visiting their loved ones on the Earth plane and spirits are always transitioning to the other side, so there are always spirits here–technically.  The “no” part is because the spirits are not here perminently.  Often they’re just passing through.  Even those who are Earth-bound eventually cross over at some point.  I decided that it was time to do a Question and Answer post about the top ten questions I am most frequently asked. 1.  Do spirits attend their funerals?
Sometimes they do, if they want to help their family and friends with the transition of their passings.

2.  What Are Some Signs Of Spirits?
Spirits are comprised of electromagnetic energy–the same type of energy in our TV, light, and radio waves.  As a result, when spirits are around, their fields may interact and disrupt the above mentioned fields.  The disturbances may manifest as sound not working on the television, flickering of lights, or radio stations losing their frequencies.  These are just a few of the signs of spirits but the url attached to this answer gives greater detail into this answer.   

3.  Why Do Spirits Visit Us?
Spirits can visit the Earth plane for a variety of reasons.  They may help a loved one cross over to the other side.  They may want to show their support of a particular event such as a birth of a child.  There are many reasons why spirits come to visit us on the Earth plane but most often their visits are meant to help us heal.  

4.  Are There Jobs On The Other Side?
On the other side, the souls of our loved ones continue to learn and grow.  Once they have worked through their transitions, they will be assigned jobs.  Their jobs may have something to do with the path the followed on the Earth or they may have something to do with their methods of passing.  

5.  What Is A Medium?
A medium is a person who can discern and communicate with spirits.  

6.  What Happens to the Soul of a Miscarried Baby?
On a spiritual level, a miscarriage is the soul of the child saying, “It is not the right time.”  It does not mean that the right time will never come to fruition.  That soul may choose to come back to the same parents at a later time or it may incarnate to a different set of parents. Many women carry healthy babies to full term after miscarriages.

7.  Why Does God Take Our Loved Ones
God does not take our loved ones from us, nor does God abandon us in our times of sadness.  We are the ones that sometimes shut God out by the darkness of our grief.  God is benevolent, loves us unconditionally, and allows our loved ones to still be with us in spirit form.  This is a magnificent gift, if we are willing to accept it.  Our loved ones are only a thought away from us. We just need to unwrap this gift of spirituality from God.  When we open it, we find the spirits of our loved ones waiting there for us. 

8. Is there a Spiritual Significance of Ringing In The Ears?
As you know from reading this blog, I hold the belief that all physical manifestations of illness and disease are rooted in an underlying spiritual or emotional issue. If we have ear issues, we need to ask ourselves, “What are we trying not to hear?” When we address the underlying root causes of tinnitus, we can release and heal the condition from our energies. If you experience ringing in your ears, ask yourself who might be trying to communicate with you?  It could be a family member or perhaps a highly evolved being such as an angelic energy.  If you psychic shield yourself, you will be protected from any lower vibrational energy.  Sit for a moment quietly and see who is trying to reach out to you.  When you release your fears, and open your ears, you may find a message of love and hope waiting for you. 

9. What Happens to the Soul of a Suicide Victim?
Once someone reaches out to a suicide victim and helps him through the death state, the soul can begin healing.  In my experience, suicide victims go to a healing place on the other side.  They’re there for as long as they need healing.  Some souls choose not to heal.  They reject their guides and they literally roam in darkness.  But God is benevolent and the door to healing is always open, when they are ready. 

10.  Are Mediumship and Psychic Abilities Inherited?
These abilities are innate parts of our soul make-up from the Divine.  Whether we develop them or not depends on us and our aptitudes to release the fears that bind us.  In families where there are several generations that have developed abilities, it is not that the abilities are inherited but rather the abilities are accepted and each generation chooses to embrace them.

Millions of people are murdered every year but their souls live on in the afterlife.  The act of physically murdering someone resides in emotional darkness whether spurred by jealousy, envy, or anger.  Often, living family members of the murder victim perceive the dark energy of the experience and sometimes it envelopes them.  In these types of situations, living family members of the murder victim are remarkably surprised when the victim comes thorough and asks them to forgive the murderer.

Emotions connected to these types of experiences are left on the Earth plane with the living.  My maternal great grandfather died a somewhat mysterious death.  A short thin Italian immigrant always seen in dress shirts, he listened to opera, likes small glasses of red wine, demitasse, and spoke his native language.  One day after having an argument with his daughter and son-in-law, he decided to take a trip to visit his cousin in update New York.  The little man in his late seventies packed his leather valise and walked down to the train station.  No one heard from him again until the New York City Police Department contacted my grandmother and asked her to identify his body.  They had found him in the Hudson River.

A couple of years ago, my mother asked me to reach out to him.  She wanted to know that he was okay.  As soon as I connected with his energy, he began singing an Italian song that his used to sing to my mother.  Fortunately, I speak Italian, so I understood the lyrics and could translate for him.  My mother relished the fact that he shared such a specific detail to validate his visit.

I asked him how he passed.  I saw him walking in front of Penn Station in New York City in the evening.  Two men came up behind him and grabbed him under each arm.  They proceeded to walk with him, as though they were having a conversation.  They headed toward 12th Avenue, which ends at one of the ferry port stations.  Next, I watched the taller or the two men as he picked up my frail great grandfather and threw him head first over a railing into the water.  But because it was low tide and shallow, he hit his head on a rock and eventually drowned. The two men walked off with his valise containing his wallet and other personal items.

The two men thought they robbed him but it did not seem like it was their intention to murder him.  My great grandfather held no ill will toward his murderers. He continued to share his loving memories with my mom and he even brought through some of her other passed-on family members, as well.

Sometime when someone is murdered, they stick around until their body is found.  But even in those situations, I have never seen a soul hold out on forgiving a murderer.  Recently a friend asked me to  reach out to a woman who went missing more than five years ago.  My friend works with the missing woman’s close friend.  They never found the missing woman’s body and her husband claims that she abandoned her family and vanished.  When I reached out to the missing woman, I found that she had in fact passed at the hands of her husband. Like other murdered souls, this woman had forgiven her husband.  She also refused to tell us exactly where he concealed her body.  She said that if they found her body, he would go to jail for the rest of his life and her three children would probably be raised in separate homes. She felt that it would be better to have the children raised by their birth father.  The missing woman’s friend was gravely disappointed in the information.  But we all hold the belief that in time, the husband’s conscious will bring him to confess and tell the truth about the situation.

The souls of murdered love ones are completely compassionate and forgiving.  It is exceptionally difficult for family and friends of murder victims to cope with their losses of loved ones and not feel anger toward the murderers.  Perhaps those of us on the Earth plane can learn a lesson in compassion and forgiveness from these souls on the other side.

Spirits do things to get our attention.  Sometimes they send signs or symbols, although this is usually  in response to some request we have made of them.  Perhaps during a time of distress, we mentally or verbally called out to them asking for a sign.  When we receive our signs they are validations that our requests have been heard.

But sometimes, we’re tuned out when there are spirits around trying to help us.  These spirits may have to be a little more active in presenting their signs to us.  Remember spirits are energy forms without bodies, yet they are trying to communicate with humans, which are physically very dense matter(I don’t mean that in a sarcastic way) and generally use their bodies and its five senses to pecieve information. As a result, spirits have to use signs that cater to our sense of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.

Let us first address the vibrational issue of spirits.  As I have mentioned in the past, most spirits vibrate at a higher frequency than humans, so in order to communicate, they need to slow down their vibrations.  This can take some practice. In addition, spirits are forms comprised of electromagnetic energy.  This is also the same type of energy field in our light, TV, and radio waves.  As a result, when spirits are around, their energy fields disrupt those fields of light, TV, and radio and can create disturbances. These disturbances may manifest in flickering of lights, sound not working on the TV, and radio stations loosing their frequencies.   All of these are little ways to let us know the spirits are around us.

Other times, spirits may need to resort to more drastic signs to get our attention.  Perhaps we are heavy with grief, or feeling depressed, or maybe even going in the wrong direction in life.  You may hear a large crash and search all over to find nothing out of place.  Spirits can and will move things.  It takes a lot of energy for them to perform these acts, so it is not a regular occurance, unless they really need to get someone’s attention.  Things can fly off of shelves, objects might be moved, and furniture may be rearranged. Spirits that resort to this drastic type of activity are not always there to help us.  In fact, they often need our help.

I have a friend who called me to clear her apartment because every time she came home from work the furniture was rearranged.  Upon visiting the apartment, I found the culprit was a woman that had lived in the there and passed on. Due to her sudden passing, she remained in a somewhat confused state.  She thought the place was still her home and could not understand why my friend was there. After explaining the situation to the confused female spirit, I helped her cross and the apartment returned to normal.

There are several reasons why spirits give us signs.  We need to be open and interpret them as necessary.  They could be sending us a sign to aid us, or they might send a sign to elicit help from us. When we learn about spirit signs and how to read them, the spirit realm and Earth plane can coexist peacefully.

This question comes up a lot.  People always wonder if a pet that passed-on has gone to heaven.  I have often seen pets come up with their former human companions–who are now in spirit form. I have encountered the spirits of dogs, cats, birds, and a host of reptiles as well.

I used to volunteer at the Associated Humane Societies Tinton Falls location.  For two years, I visited the shelter every Thursday and gave Reiki to the cats, dogs, bunnies, and ferrets.  It was a wonderful lesson in compassion because the animals were so loving and grateful to be helped.  As I worked on the animals, I would get images of where they had been before they wound up in the shelter.  I could see the conditions the animals were exposed to including those involving neglect and abuse.  Though they could not verbalize, the animals told stories with the images and their emotions which they shared in the healing sessions.

Early on in my shelter work, I met a dog named Blue.  He was a blue Doberman Pinscher.  His shirt-haired coat was a beautiful shade of gray-blue. Although he was less than two-years-old, his paws were immense–an indication of his tremendous growth potential.  His most striking feature was his icy blue eye color–like a clean deep ocean–which gave his eyes a human quality.  I nicknamed him Gentle Giant for though he had a large frame, he had the personality of an affectionate little lap dog.

The shelter manager said Blue was turned in because he tried to bite his owner.  But, I got a very different impression when I worked on the Gentle Giant.  I saw his former owner trying to make the dog aggressive by taunting him with a stick.  Blue just sat there with his head cocked to the side as if confused.  I got the impression his owner wanted a large breed dog and preferred an aggressive temperament.  But the Gentle Giant didn’t have the makings of an aggressive disposition, so he was turned into the shelter.

At the advice of my doctor, I  stopped volunteering at the shelter when I was seven months pregnant with my daughter.  I had been scratched by one of the cats and my doctor was concerned about me contracting Toxoplasmosis. I deep sadness resonated in me as I walked through the shelter on my last day.  But I continued to send distance energy to the animals, even though I could not be there physically.

A couple of months ago, I was doing a distance healing session on someone.  I had soft music playing on the Pandora radio station.  Toward the end of the session, I saw images of Blue, Gentle Giant.  He was running in a lush green field and his silvery coat glistened in the bright sun.  He sat in front of me for a moment and then ran off.  I opened my eyes and the song on the Pandora station was Vangelis’  – Remembering Blue.   I sat in my chair and sent him thoughts of gratitude and love for his sweet visit.   “Yes”, pets have souls (even those without human owners) and “Yes”, their souls live-on, just like those of their human counterparts.

People on the Earth plane often wonder why they cannot always summon their passed-on loved ones at will.  There are a couple of things to consider.  First, we live in a vast universe and our thoughts have to travel a great distance to get to the spirit realm.  Secondly, sometimes our loved ones are busy.  Believe it or not, physical death is a continuation of the life process.  The soul leaves the material body behind and moves into the spirit realm.  There, it will be assigned a “job” and continue the learning and evolutionary process.

Often when we think of our passed on loved-ones, we imagine them in some sort of heavenly bliss filled enchanting music of harps and beautiful settings. These images are projections of our physical world.  Once we leave our bodies, there is no need to see things with our eyes  or hear things with our ears.  The soul can perceive all information without the physical body.  Actually, once they are acclimated, the souls of our loved ones can attend schools of higher learning.  They’re also assigned tasks and jobs.  Some souls work with guides while others may work on the Earth plane and still others may work on the other side.  Often the job on the other side is connected to an experience, or even the occupation that someone held of Earth.

My cousin Gail died at 41 of breast cancer.  She left behind three young children on Earth.  On the other side, she helps the souls of mothers who have to leave their children on Earth.  When mothers have to cross over, they can be tied deeply to their children and are reluctant to pass.  Even after they pass, they struggle with leaving their children on Earth.  Gail and others like her help ease this process for those souls.

My maternal grandmother AKA “Nanny” worked for years as an activity director in a nursing home.  She possessed a deep patience and compassion when working with the elderly, particularly those with Alzheimer’s and dementia.   She works with the spirit guides of dementia patients on the Earth.  She helps their guides cross these souls.  Dementia-afflicted people can become sort of trapped in their bodies. There’s a disjuncture between the soul and body.  Although they are told to pass-on, they sometimes become disoriented and stay in a vegetative state rather than leaving their bodies behind.

My friend Cecelia’s daughter, Laura, passed in a sudden car accident.  Several years after Laura’s passing, another friend, Pam, asked me to reach out to her brother.  He had passed in a recent car accident.  As I began communicating with Pam’s brother, Cecelia’s daughter popped in with a host of information for Cecelia.  When I asked her how she knew Pam’s brother, she explained that she helped him cross over.  She further explained that she aided in the crossing of several accident victims and it was her “job” to do so.

We can always send our thoughts to our loved ones, especially when we need their assistance.  They know when we think of them but we must try to remain patient in awaiting a response, or symbol from them.  We don’t always know what God has them working on.  But we do know that they are eternally connected to us and will come to our aid soon.
