When we think of healing ourselves, we may not recognize the energy of the Earth.  We my use the Divine Universal Life-force energy around us, if we are attuned to it.  We might include our focused intentions.  We may also include any prayers or invocations of assistance to loved ones in the spirit world, masters of light, saints, and spiritual deities.  Sometimes the energy most readily available to us is often overlooked.

Earlier this week, I went for a run with my twelve-year-old son, Brayden, who was riding his BMX bike. Through the thick humid air, we made our way to the newly extended bike path, which was lightly covered in gravel bits, as it has yet to be paved. Mounded heaps of sandy soil lined the path.  Brayden proceeded to jump these heaps on his bike, in a zigzag pattern.  At one point, the bike slipped out from under him and in an instant, he was on the ground with the bike handle bar pressed into his badly scrapped chest–bleeding right through his shirt .  Gasping for air, he chanted, “Mom please give me energy. Please give me energy.”  His big brown eyes glossed, as he fought back tears.  I knelt down and placed my palms on his legs.  I told him to calm his energy and heal himself.  As you know from my book, Discovering The Medium Within, Brayden was born with healing, psychic, and mediumship abilities and I knew he could easily heal himself.  I felt his energy settle but I also noticed a buzzing sensation from the ground.

As I held my palms against him, my eyes scanned the sandy ground.  Tiny quartz crystals reflected the sun’s light all around us.  I hadn’t noticed them when we got on the path but at eye-level it was blatantly visible and the ground’s energy pulsed vibrantly.  The little crystals reminded me of the kind found in Cape May, a little seashore Victorian retreat located at the southern most tip of New Jersey and favorite vacation place of mine for its amazing energy.  Cape May has an abundance of natural jasper forms in its soil but it also has tiny crystals in the sand also know as Cape May diamonds.

Brayden felt it too.  Although he didn’t know why, he said the sand made him feel calm and relaxed.  I picked up a few of the crystals and showed him how the sand was filled with them.  “This sand has very high vibrational healing energy,” I said.  I thought about taking a few of the crystals home and placing them around the yard but then I realized they were there for a reason and might help someone else down the road. I silently thanked the Universe for providing these amplified healing tools.  About five minutes later, Brayden rose to his feet and mounted his bike.  Although still sore, he felt well enough to continue to ride for another two miles.

The Earth exudes its own healing energy from the ground.  It extends upward through all things connected to the ground like trees, grass, sand, and all plants.  The energy is always available to help us heal, we just need to step outside and connect with it.  The Universe gives us all the tools we need in this life. It is a matter of tuning in and using them.

Many of us enjoy the visiting the beach for a vacation and some of us are even lucky enough to live close to it.  Although the beach is great in the summer, it also has some profound healing properties that we don’t always acknowledge.  Sometimes we feel drawn to it and we don’t why.  But when we get there, our souls recharge and we find grounding and balance.  The beach is a great place to heal yourself at any time of year.

The second you step on the beach, your nose is filled with the salty scent carried in the air.  You breathe it in as the salt element cleanses your sinuses and lungs expelling any toxins in your respiratory system. When you swim in the water, the salt cleanses your body.  If you have any cuts on your skin, it helps them heal.  Salt has both cleansing and healing properties and by spending time at the beach, you are offering your physical body opportunities to heal and cleanse deeply.

The sand texture feels soft and supportive under your feet, as it grounds your energy. When you walk on the beach, you connect yourself deeply to the Earth and you are fully present.  All the cares that circle your mind dissipate and you take in all the sights and sounds around you.  Some beach sand contains grains of quartz, which is high vibrating and enhances your energetic vibration.  Walking on the beach, connecting with this energy can cleanses your aura and ground you.

The rhythmic wave patterns visually, mentally, and audibly relax us. Have you ever sat on the beach and watched the waves, when your were upset about something?  As you see the waves, your mind seems to unfold and you feel more calm.  Hearing the waves lap onto the shore and softly wisp back to sea, soothes the ears.

The overall high vibrational beach energy draws us in. When we feel compelled to visit it, we must understand that it is a soul call for healing.  The surfers of the 1960’s knew this well.  Those soul surfers heard and understood the call of the ocean and recognized it was not just a place to visit, but rather a place to connect on a soul-level–a place of peace and balance.  When you feel drawn to the beach, know that it is a call to your soul. Go there!  Leave all our Earth-bound thoughts behind you and support your soul!

We need to ground our energy regularly.  In the past, we discussed various methods for grounding the energy in our bodies.  Most entail the energy flowing downward from the crown chakra through the other major chakras and into the Earth.  By connecting ourselves to the Earth, we can ensure that we are fully present in the moment.

Many energy workers use their hands regularly in their work.  There are a myriad of people who fall into this area including but not limited to the following:  Energy healers, Psychics, Mediums, Tarot Readers, Palm Readers, Doctors, Nurses, Massage therapists, Musicians, Artists, and Writers.  How many of these energy workers think to ground their hands?  If we want to stay connected with the Earth, why not specifically ground the part of the body conducting the most energy?

Grounding of hands can give an immediate and solid connection to the Earth. It only takes a couple of minutes and can be used in conjunction with the body grounding exercises or as a standalone method.  All energy workers should ground their hands daily.  One can ground hands using a number of methods:

1.  Cords From Hands
Envision one cord coming from each hand and extending down to the center of the Earth.  Feel your energy quickly pull down and connect to the Earth’s core.  Once you feel well grounded, envision both cords dropping down and absorbing into the Earth.

2.  Root Method
Picture roots growing up from the Earth and into your hands.  Feel your energy connect and meld into the Earth’s.  As you feel your energy connected and rooted in the Earth, envision the roots disappearing into the ground.

3.  Grounding Stones
Hold grounding stones (Hematite, Black Obsidian, or Onyx) in both hands and feel your energy pull down into both hands.  Picture the energy in your hands being magnetized by the Earth’s core.

4.  Physical Method
Walk outside and place your hands on the ground (preferably not concrete or cement). Place both hands on a natural surface.  You can put your hands on the grass, in dirt, the shallow end of a body of water, or in sand.  Feel the energy in your hands link with that of the natural surface and the Earth.

All of us need to ground our energy from time to time.  But energy workers and mediums need to do it daily.  Before we go over a few methods of grounding, let us first discuss the meaning of the term.  Often people say things like, “My spouse keeps me grounded” or “My job keeps me grounded.”  They are using the term grounded to mean focused or centered. When we talk about grounding our energy, we mean to pull the energy close to Earth.  The energetic meaning is a little different from the general meaning.  On the energetic level, we are focusing our minds, souls, and bodies.  We are uniting our complete selves and keeping them on Earth.

When we communicate with spirit, we raise our vibrations to a higher level.  We use the top three chakras for clairaudience, clairvoyance,  and clairsentience. When we are through with the communication, we need to adapt our souls to once again be connected to our bodies and close to the Earth.  We need to pull our energy down through the lower chakras.  Sometimes after a communication session, a person may feel light-headed, or a little scattered.  These are common sensations as your soul/mind/body reconnect.  Grounding solidifies the connection and also keeps you centered.

After all spirit communication sessions, it is imperative to ground your energy.  You can accomplish this task by one of several ways listed below:

1.  Cord from Root Chakra
Imagine a red cord from your root charka(just below your navel) to the center of the Earth. Place your hand over the root chakra and feel your connection with the Earth.

2.  Roots from Earth
Imagine roots growing up from your feet through your legs pulling your energy close to the ground. When you feel centered, see the roots going back into the Earth.

3.  Grounding Stone
Hold a piece of Hematite (or another grounding stone like Obsidian)  in your left hand and feel your energy pull down. Envision all your energy pulling downward to the center of Earth.

4.  Physical Method 1
Walk outside in bare feet and connect with the Earth.

5.  Physical Method 2
Drink a full glass of water.

6.  Physical Method 3
Eat a piece of fresh fruit or a fresh vegetable.
