<p>Life can sometimes be overwhelming, especially when we encounter change or conflict. We may feel alone and isolated. But when we connect to the higher self, the spirit version of our selves, we realize that we always have all the love and support we need. I use this exercise sometimes in client sessions, but you can do it anytime you need to feel love and support.</p>
<p><span></span>The higher self is the true essence of you—part of your soul. It&#8217;s your total and complete version of yourself, free of projections, issues, imprints, and fears—the divine form of you. What exists on the earth plane is basically a small part of your total self that is engaging in physical life. The higher self oversees the human self; once engaged, the higher self provides deep guidance for navigating life on earth.</p>
<p>We can connect our human selves at any time to receive help from the higher self. But if we clear out our fears and projections and raise our vibrations, we can be closer to our higher selves on a regular basis. The higher self is in the vibration of unconditional love, so the more time we spend in that vibration, the closer we are to merging with our higher selves. This means choosing to look at experiences from a soul perspective rather than an ego-based one, realizing that all experiences are for our highest good. It also means engaging in kindness towards others and completely loving and accepting ourselves.</p>
<p>Until we reach the point where the human self and higher self merge and are vibrating at the rate of pure unconditional love, we have the ability to engage with our higher self through meditation. As we connect to the higher self, a sense of total peace and unconditional love envelops us. It is at this point that we become fully aware of how many things we need to clear from our human life. Connecting to the higher self helps us realize how and what we should be feeling all the time. When we connect we receive information about how we can improve our lives, if we just listen. It&#8217;s time to live life as your soul chose before you incarnated. Connect with your higher self, be linked to the vibration of unconditional love, get on your soul path, and start living a life full of love!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><em>What you will need for this exercise: Your mind in a relaxed state and a place to recline.</em></p>
<ol>
<li>Close your eyes and breathe in deeply and release it. Do this a few times until you feel you&#8217;re breathing comfortably in a relaxed state.</li>
<li>Place both hands over your heart chakra, in the center of your chest, and feel the energy vibrating there.</li>
<li>Next, envision a golden cord starting from your heart chakra and running up through the center of your body. See it going through your neck and your head and coming out the top of your head, through the crown chakra.</li>
<li>Picture the cord going from the top of your head and extending up into the sky until you can no longer see the end of it. Send loving energy from your heart chakra up the cord.</li>
<li>As you are sending loving energy up the cord, you feel something attach to the other end of the cord. Although you cannot see what is attached, you feel the loving energy it is sending down the cord to you.</li>
<li>Allow this warm, loving energy to fill your heart chakra. As it fills the chakra, then let it spill out and fill your entire body with the vibration of unconditional love. Allow this energy to flow in you!</li>
<li>As the cord moves closer to you, there is someone coming into view attached to the other end. It is your higher self, the perfect, radiant version of yourself that resides in the divine realm.</li>
<li>Now the higher self is in full view, and you can feel the vibration they carry. It is the vibration of unconditional love, and it is so overwhelming that you cannot contain it.</li>
<li><span></span>Using your mind, communicate telepathically with your higher self and ask what advice they can provide to guide you in this life. Spend a few moments communicating with your higher self. Make a mental note of everything communicated to you.</li>
<li>Now it is time for the higher self to return to the divine realm. See the cord attached to the higher self ascending back into the sky until you can no longer view the higher self.</li>
<li>Now detach the cord from your heart chakra and allow it to ascend to the sky. Watch as it becomes absorbed into the atmosphere.</li>
<li>Spend a few moments recounting the information your higher self shared with you.</li>
<li>Send thoughts of gratitude to your higher self for this experience. Know that you can connect to your higher self anytime you need to feel that love and support or guidance.</li>
<li>When you stand up, with your feet pressed against the ground, envision tree roots gently entangling around your feet, grounding you and holding you close to the earth.</li>
</ol>

<p>As I mentioned in an earlier post, all humans on the Earth plane have spirit guides.  These entities accompany us through our life journey and help us along the way.  Often, people want to know and understand their guides.  The following exercise is meant to help facilitate this process.</p>
<p>1.  Sit comfortably in a chair.  Close your eyes and  take a few deep, calming breaths.  Relax your thoughts.  Just let them flow and in and out of your mind.  Don&#8217;t pay attention to them or follow them.</p>
<p>2.  Using your mind&#8217;s eye, imagine a big blue bubble encompassing you safely.  Picture yourself in the blue bubble of protection.  Feel the warmth and comfort of the energy in the bubble.</p>
<p>3.  Imagine a long red cord from your root chakra (just below the pubic bone) to the center of the Earth.  Feel all of your energy being puled to the center of the Earth.   Notice the sense of comfort and stability as you connect.  Once you feel this deep connection, imagine the cord releasing from your root chakra and falling to the center of the Earth.</p>
<p>4.  Focus once again on relaxing the mind and body.  Breathe in to the count of three and out to the count of three.  Feel every cell of your body relaxing with each exhale.  Sit for a moment and enjoy this peaceful state you have created for yourself.</p>
<p>5.  Now that you are totally relaxed yet in an alert state, focus on your third eye.  Pay attention to any colors or images that you may see.  Do not be discouraged if you don&#8217;t see any spirits.  Not everyone will see spirits. It really depends on how open your third eye is at the time.   It is just as valid to feel and hear the information connected to your guides. Ask your guides to come forward in the name of almighty God.</p>
<p>6.  Once you sense that your guides are present, ask a question.  You can ask them any one of the following:<br />
&#8211; What is your name?<br />
&#8211; Can you come into focus, so I can see you?<br />
&#8211; How are you connected to me?<br />
&#8211; Is there a specific purpose for which you are providing guidance?</p>
<p>You may hear a response in your thoughts, or you may see images in your third eye that answer your question.  You will receive information in whichever  one of your extrasensory faculties is most attuned.</p>
<p>*Try asking only one or two questions at first and work on sending and receiving information between your guides.</p>
<p>7.  You may also want to ask how many guides are with you at this point in your life.</p>
<p>Once you have established initial contact with your guides, try to set a time monthly or even weekly to connect with them.  This time can be beneficial not only for connecting with your guides but also for connecting with your soul.</p>
<p>8.  Thank your guides for all the work they do and for communicating with you.</p>
<p>9.  Once again imagine the red cord from your root chakra connecting to the center of the Earth.  Feel your energy pull down from your head, through your feet and to the Earth&#8217;s core.  Enjoy this solid connection and know that you are rooted in the Earth.</p>
<p>10.  Imagine your bubble rising above you and up to the heavens.  Thank the universe for the experience.</p>

<p>Before any meditation, we want to make sure we are in a relaxed position.  This can be sitting up, reclined, whatever is most comfortable for you.  We want to close our eyes and concentrate on our breathing.  Sometimes it is helpful to place your hands gently on your abdomen and feel the abdomen rise and fall with each breath.  Notice all parts of your body relaxing.  Notice your mind releasing all thoughts of tension.  Concentrate only on your breath.  Breathe in light, relaxation and breathe out all other things.  When you feel your are comfortable in a relaxed state, you are ready to begin.</p>
<p>First you want to ground your energy &#8211;imagine roots growing from the Earth to your feet and up your legs &#8211;connecting you to the Earth.  Feel your energy unifying with that of the earth and feel yourself being safe and comfortable.  Once you are grounded, we are ready to balance the chakras.  Although there are several chakras in our body, we will be working with the primary 7.</p>
<p>Place your hands on your pubic bone.  Feel the energy of the root chakra.  Take note of  any differences in the fluctuations of the energy.  Does it flow freely?  Picture the chakra in your third eye as you connect with the energy.  Is it spinning?  Is it clockwise our counterclockwise?  Is the color a vibrant red?  Is it dark red, or perhaps a shade of red mixed with orange? Is the chakra a rounded shape or oval?  Is the energy slow anywhere? If you notice anything out of the ordinary, ask your body why there is an imbalance? What is it about?  Imagine the chakra healthy, spinning clockwise in a bright red color&#8211; a beautiful vibrant red ball of energy.  Hold your hand on the chakra until you can see if as healthy.  Keeping one hand on the root chakra place the other on your second chakra.  Feel the energy moving upward from the between your hands. Feel the connection between the two chakras.  Once you feel this healthy movement upward, you are ready to balance the second chakra.</p>
<p>Place both hands just below your navel.  Feel the energy in your second chakra.  Observe any differences in the fluctuations of the energy.  Does it flow freely?  Picture the chakra in third eye or as you connect with the energy.  Is it spinning?  Is it clockwise our counterclockwise?  Is the color a beautiful orange color?  Is it dark orange, or perhaps a shade of orange mixed with yellow? Is the chakra a rounded shape or oval?  Is the energy slow anywhere? If you notice anything out of the ordinary, ask your body why there is an imbalance?  What is it about? Imagine the chakra healthy, spinning clockwise in a bright orange color&#8211; a beautiful vibrant orange ball of energy.  Hold your hand on the chakra until you can see it as healthy.  Keeping one hand on the sacral chakra place the other on your third chakra.  Feel the energy moving upward between your hands. Feel the connection between the two chakras.  Once you feel this healthy movement upward.  You are ready to balance the third chakra.</p>
<p>Place both hands just below the center of the rib cage.  Feel the energy in your third chakra. Notice any differences in the fluctuations of the energy.  Does it flow freely?  Picture the chakra in your third eye as you connect with the energy.  Is it spinning?  Is it clockwise our counterclockwise?  Is the color a bright yellow color?  Is it dark yellow, or perhaps a shade of yellow mixed with green? Is the chakra a rounded shape or oval?  Is the energy slow anywhere?  If you notice anything out of the ordinary, ask your body why there is an imbalance?  What is it about? Imagine the chakra healthy, spinning clockwise in a bright yellow color&#8211;a beautiful vibrant yellow ball of energy.  Hold your hand on the chakra until you can see it as healthy.  Keeping one hand on the solar plexus chakra place the other on your fourth chakra.  Feel the energy moving upward between your hands. Feel the connection between the two chakras.  Once you feel this healthy movement upward, you are ready to balance the fourth chakra.</p>
<p>Place both hands on your heart center.  Feel the energy in your fourth chakra. Observe any differences in the fluctuations of the energy.  Does it flow freely?  Picture the chakra in your third eye as you connect with the energy.  Is it spinning?  Is it clockwise our counterclockwise?  Is the color a bright green color?  Is it dark green, or perhaps a shade of blue mixed with green? Is the chakra a rounded shape or oval?  Is the energy slow anywhere?  If you notice anything out of the ordinary, ask your body why there is an imbalance? What is it about? Imagine the chakra healthy, spinning clockwise in a bright green color&#8211;a beautiful vibrant green ball of energy.  Hold your hand on the chakra until you can see it as healthy.  chakra place the other on your fifth chakra.  Feel the energy moving upward between your hands. Feel the connection between the two chakras.  Once you feel this healthy movement upward, you are ready to balance the fifth chakra.</p>
<p>Place both hands on your throat.  Feel the energy in your fifth chakra. Observe any differences in the fluctuations of the energy.  Does it flow freely?  Picture the chakra in your third eye as you connect with the energy.  Is it spinning?  Is it clockwise our counterclockwise?  Is the color a beautiful crystal blue color?  Is it aqua, or perhaps a shade of blue mixed with any other color? Is the chakra a rounded shape or oval?  Is the energy slow anywhere?  If you notice anything out of the ordinary, ask your body why there is an imbalance?  What is it about? Imagine the chakra healthy, spinning clockwise in a beautiful blue color&#8211;a blue ball of energy.  Hold your hand on the chakra until you can see it as healthy.  Keeping one hand on the throat chakra place the other on your sixth chakra.  Feel the energy moving upward between your hands. Feel the connection between the two chakras.  Once you feel this healthy movement upward, you are ready to balance the sixth chakra.</p>
<p>Place both hands on your third eye.  Feel the energy in your sixth chakra. Observe any differences in the fluctuations of the energy.  Does it flow freely?  Picture the chakra in your third eye as you connect with the energy.  Is it spinning?  Is it clockwise our counterclockwise?  Is the color a beautiful deep indigo color?  Is it light blue or perhaps a shade of blue mixed with any other color? Is the chakra a rounded shape or oval? Is the energy slow anywhere?  If you notice anything out of the ordinary, ask your body why there is an imbalance? What is it about? Imagine the chakra healthy, spinning clockwise in a beautiful indigo blue ball of energy.  Hold your hand on the chakra until you can see it as healthy.  Keeping one hand on the third eye chakra place the other on your seventh chakra.  Feel the energy moving upward between your hands. Feel the connection between the two chakras.  Once you feel this healthy movement upward, you are ready to balance the seventh chakra.</p>
<p>Place both hands on your crown chakra.  Feel the energy in your seventh chakra. Observe any differences in the fluctuations of the energy.  Does it flow freely?  Picture the chakra in your crown chakra at the top of your head as you connect with the energy.  Is it spinning?  Is it clockwise our counterclockwise?  Is the white?  Is it a shade of any other color? Is the chakra a rounded shape or oval? Is the energy slow anywhere?  If you notice anything out of the ordinary, ask your body why there is an imbalance? What is it about? Imagine the chakra healthy, spinning clockwise in an angelic white ball of energy.  Hold your hand on the chakra until you can see it as healthy.</p>
<p>Keeping both hands on your crown chakra, send the energy from your head to your feet.  Feel the energy bouncing in your body, aligning all your chakra points.  Feel your chakras spinning in a healthy vibrant light.  Enjoy the peace you have created within your body.  Spend some time here enjoying this perfect balance.  Once you are done, be sure to again, picture your feet deeply rooted in the Earth.  Feel your energy being pulled down from your crown chakra, to your third eye, through your throat chakra, to your heart center, to your solar plexus, to your sacral chakra, and finally to your root chakra.  Feel the energy being pulled down through your legs, to your feet, and your toes.  Connect with the Earth and let it ground and stabilize your energy. You are one with the universe.  May your day be filled with light and love.</p>

<p><span style="font-size: small;">One of the first steps in communicating with our deceased loved ones is to tune out all the Earthly things around us and to tune into our souls. The easiest way to do this is through meditation.  If you aren&#8217;t use to mediation, there are several ways to accomplish it.  You can meditate at a special designated place such as a church or temple.  You can also do it in a room in your house. Or you way want to do it outside sitting or walking with nature.  Choose an environment where your mind can unfold and relax.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Close your eyes and sit quietly for a moment.  Allow the thoughts to flow through your mind.  Don&#8217;t follow any of them.  Just let them bubble up and release into the air.  Concentrate on your breathing.  Breathe in with your nose and out with your mouth.  Try to breathe in to the count of three and out to the count of three.  Observe your abdomen rise and fall with each breath.  Feel all tension release from your body.  All the muscles from your face down to your toes are relaxed.  Your mind and body are one and at peace.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Now that you are relaxed, fill your mind with thoughts of all the things you&#8217;re grateful for in your life.  Send a thought of  love to all the people in your life that make you feel happy and loved.  Make a mental note of any images that flash before you&#8211;some people see colors, abstract images.  Take notice of any sounds or non-verbal information you receive.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Picture a golden cord coming down from above you and filling your entire body with a gold-flowing, angelic light.  See it permeate each cell and brighten everything in its path.  Feel your body become warm with this new golden energy.  Spend a moment allowing this light to fill you and warm your soul.   Now picture the cord dissipating into the sky.  The golden energy is running through you and you feel warmed, energized, and loved.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Imagine another cord going from your root chakra (the energy center located just below your pubic bone) to the center of the Earth.  Feel it anchoring you and pulling all your energy down to your feet.  Enjoy the solidity of your connection with the Earth.  Picture the cord dissipating to the center of the Earth. You are one with your body, mind, and spirit.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Open your eyes and relax for a moment, collecting your thoughts about the meditation.  Write down any questions, information, or images that may have come up in the process.  This meditation can be as short as 10 minutes or over an hour; it is up to the individual.  But you should try to do it once a week to train your mind to disconnect from everything going on around you.  It is paramount for spirit communication.   Please feel free to share any information or post any questions, as well.</span></p>
