Happy New Year! 2023 is a year of alignment with the higher self and self empowerment. January is the month that kicks it all off with a full moon on 1/6/23.  This month, many people are clearing remnants of emotional wounds, trauma, and old versions of themselves that are keeping them in a 3D reality.  When we consciously clear these imprints and experiences, we shift our perceptions and remember our soul agreements and all experiences were meant for our highest good. Allow the energetic ebb and flow of the month to help you clear and align!

A main goal for may of us this year is to stay in the higher self frequency, so that  we see, hear, and feel everything from a soul perspective of 5D and higher rather than a 3D ego perspective. When we live at the soul frequency, we realize we are connected to everyone & everything in the flower of life and we are one at all times.  When we are one, we cannot hurt someone without hurting ourselves. Everything we think, say, or do is connected to us and all.  We are accountable for not only our personal energy field imprints but also those we are supporting and contributing to the collective energy field or matrix.

The more we embody the higher self frequency, the more we acknowledge ourselves as spiritual and energetic beings in physical, human form.  All of our non-physical abilities align. We can transcend dimensions, communicate telepathically, heal ourselves and our world. This is a beautiful year of alignment. I invite you to integrate your soul into everything you do; it will change your reality. Thank you for being with me on this Earth at this time. Always remember who you are and why you are here!

I have written about clairvoyance before in reference to humans opening their third eyes and using their psychic senses to see the truth in things and non-physical energy. Animals can also be clairvoyant and I had a very good reminder of this recently. I don’t usually make house calls but a client of mine brought something to my attention and I knew I needed to make an exception and visit someone’s home.

A client named Linda, came for a session and during that time, she mentioned concerns about her dog, Morgan that would not go into the yard at night. Morgan also had a friend next door a two-year old husky named Milo. He wouldn’t go into the yard at night either but he also refused to leave his patio area. As Linda told me this story, I knew that Milo was having a spirit issue in the yard and I also knew that I needed to visit him at his home and get a better idea of what he was seeing. I asked Linda if I could stop by and meet the dogs and see Milo’s yard. She agreed and we set a time that weekend for me to visit.

I stopped by on Sunday morning, after the gym. When I arrived at Linda’s home, a little Beagle head popped up and through the curtains like a fish line bobber. The dog’s mouth was open and it looked like she was smiling at me. It was the happy face of my new best buddy, Morgan. I met Linda and Morgan in their backyard.

As soon as they exited the house, Morgan danced circles of excitement around me like at little elf. I loved her energy; she was perhaps the happiest dog I had ever met. Then she pranced around the different areas of her yard showing me her favorite spots, while Linda narrated for her. Next, she ran up and down the chain-linked fence barking. Linda said she was calling her buddy, Milo, who lived next door

Within a minute of her barking, a beautiful white husky with crystal blue eyes, peered through his bay window and watched with his tail wagging. His owner, Nannette, let him into the yard and he bounded to the fence. Milo jumped up and let us pet him and I could feel he was an incredibly sensitive animal. He started whining and hoping on his back legs to get over the fence, so he could play with us. I asked his owner if we could come over and she agreed.

We walked into the yard and Milo stayed on the patio staring forward. I looked up and noticed a small blue metal shed with a middle-aged man in spirit standing to the right. I knew Milo could see the man. Morgan and I kept walking forward. “See this is exactly what he does. For the last two months, he won’t walk past the patio.  I have to take him on the leash to get him into the yard,” Nannette said.

“Who’s the man in spirit connected to the house that had an alcohol issue?” I asked. Nannette said she did not know because she had only lived there for six years. “He owned the house at one time and is very connected to it. This home is a place of comfort for him,” I said.

Linda said that she remembered him and his name was Ed. She said that he would hide and drink in the shed because his wife did not like him drinking. Ed said that one night when Nannette was throwing the ball to Milo, it landed right next to him and Milo got scared and never went into the yard again. He apologized for scaring Milo. I relayed this information to Linda and Nannette and both women got a better understanding of what had been happening

I told Ed he needed to cross to the spirit world and it was time for him to move on. I explained that there would be people waiting for him there. Just then an elderly woman in spirit appeared to his left; she was his mother. Ed immediately recognized her and the two hugged. She didn’t say a word. I sent both of them in a tunnel of light across the Earth grid to the spirit realm.  Then I asked Nannette if she had some sage for smudging. What happened next was just short of amazing.

Nannette lit the sage and I walked through the yard with my wingman, Milo. We smudged the whole yard. Then we smudged the outside of the blue shed. I asked Nannette if we could open the shed and clear the energy.  She agreed and noted that she had never opened it in the six years she had lived there.  When we pulled the doors back, we found a shed full of Ed’s tools and other belongings.  Not only was the home a place of comfort, but Ed still had an energetic connection to the contents in the shed. I walked through the shed with the sage and released all imprints with Milo by my side the whole time.

We had solved the mystery of why Milo would not go into the yard and Milo had helped identify a spirit that needed to cross.  A couple of weeks later, I checked in with Linda and it was business as usual for Milo and Morgan. They were back playing and running in their yards. The next time your pet stares at something that seems invisible, take notice. It could be a loved one or lost spirit visiting. Just like humans, some animals are born at a very high frequency and can see and feel spirits. Pay attention to what your pets show you!

On May 8th, 2013, my publisher,  Llewellyn Worldwide, released my new book, Discovering the Medium Within: Techniques and Stories From A Professional Psychic Medium.  The book takes readers on the journey of how I learned to manage my psychic and mediumship abilities and how others opened to their own abilities along the way.  I hold the belief that we all have psychic abilities, we just need to know how to recognize and utilize them; this is my main reason for writing the book. 

For the promotion of the book, I’ve been attending many book signing events. Most of these events entail discussion of the book, as well as a question and answer portion.  I also like to run a psychic development exercise, if the attendees are up for the participation. This helps demonstrate the fact that we all have psychic abilities.

We pick one of the exercises from the Mediumship Methods section of the book.  Then I pair the attendees off with a partner (one who they don’t know).  Everyone likes the standing back to back exercise to see what energy and information they pick up from their partners.  Each person perceives the information in which ever psychic sense is strongest.  Some people are highly clairsentient and can feel the energy of the partner. Others may be open clairvoyantly  and will see images and situations.  Some people may perceive information through a few different psychic senses, if they are developed.  We switch partners and then the person that perceived the information shares her findings with her partner.

The attendees are amazed at their abilities that they might have dismissed in the past.  Plus they enjoy doing the hands-on work of an exercise from the book.  I like seeing them acknowledge and accept their abilities in the process.  The seed is planted and it is up to them to nurture and grow in their abilities.

Our psychic abilities are an innate part of our spiritual birthright.  They’re divine abilities meant to help enhance life here on Earth.  In my opinion, the closer we are to the vibrations of light and love, the deeper our divine connection and our understanding of our psychic abilities.  Everyone is psychic.  Some people may have stronger abilities than other people.  But at the end of the day, we are all the same and those abilities are there within us waiting to be utilized.

In terms of psychic senses, people often identify the brow or third-eye chakra as the main psychic center in our bodies. Although this chakra point, houses our clairvoyance or clear seeing, the third-eye isn’t the main psychic center. Our sacral chakra is another location, which holds a psychic sense, namely clairsentience or clear feeling. The main psychic center within us, the throat chakra, houses three psychic senses rendering it the psychic powerhouse of the physical body.

Clairvoyance is defined as the ability to see without the use of physical eyes. This sight can be through the reception of mental images of people, places, or events in the third-eye. It can also be the ability to see through the illusion in things of the physical world. People who’ve developed this clairvoyance can walk into a room and see energetic imprints and images of what happened there. Clairvoyance resides in the brow or third-eye chakra. We might consider this chakra point a psychic energy generator in the body.

Clairsentience   is the psychic ability for clear sensing and feeling. People with this ability can feel emotions, as well as environmental factors such as heat, cold, though none of those things may be physically present. They are also known as empaths. This sense resides in the sacral chakra. As a teacher of psychic skills development, I find that clairsentience or clear feeling is most commonly the first psychic sense to develop in people and often precedes the development of the third eye ability. In fact people develop clairsentience without even recognizing it. People will say that they feel the energy of a loved one who has passed on. I had a client say to me, “I feel my mother’s calming energy at times of stress or conflict.” This woman perceived her mother’s energy through her sacral chakra and clairsentient psychic sense, but didn’t know it at the time. Because clairsentience is stronger in most people than clairvoyance, we might label the sacral chakra as a main generator of psychic energy in our bodies.

The throat chakra is located in the center of the throat and on a physical level is our center for communication and speaking our truths. Psychically it holds three of our senses including our clairaudience or clear hearing, clairscent or clear feeling, and clairgustance or clear tasting abilities. Housing three psychic senses makes the throat chakra the main psychic center in the physical body.

We utilize clairaudience to hear things without the use of physical, ears also know as telepathic communication or mental telepathy. We can listen to information from spirit, or hear information of past experiences or events that may be imprinted in a place. During healing sessions with clients, I always convey spirit information in the exact inflection and tone with which I clairaudiently hear it. This further validates the spirit information for my clients.

With clairscent, we can smell scents that aren’t physically present. Often when my maternal grandmother visits, she carries the scent of Christian Dior Poison perfume in her energy. It smells like someone sprayed it through the room, though I don’t have that perfume anywhere. The second I smell it, I know she’s present even before I clairvoyantly see her.

Clairgustance or clear tasting imparts the ability to taste things without putting anything physical into one’s mouth. Sometimes during sessions, I get what I refer to as chemo-nausea, which is an overwhelming sense of extreme nausea including mouth watering and a strong metallic taste in my mouth, as though I’m sucking on a penny. It’s quite horrible and when I taste this, I know right away the person in spirit received chemotherapy before passing. This is literally the worst tasting example of clairgustance that I experience. Most others are more pleasant like the taste of peppermint candy, or maple syrup.

Since the throat chakra houses more psychic senses than any other chakra point in the body, a balanced throat chakra is essential for psychic development. Healers must also give special attention to their own throat chakras as they impart valuable skills and information utilized in healing sessions. It’s important to have all chakras aligned, healthy and balanced, so our psychic senses can generate and process information together equally. But when we nature the throat chakra, we can ensure that our psychic powerhouse will function at a high energetic rate thus propelling us along our psychic paths.

Many people ask me to explain the difference between psychic abilities and mediumship abilities.  Often the two are lumped into the same category of the occult.  There are differences between the two and they involve the development of the abilities, as well as discerning and communicating with spirits.

Sometimes when people hear the word psychic, it connotes images of someone gazing into a crystal ball predicting the future.  A psychic is someone who can perceive energy beyond the physical senses—utilizing extrasensory perception.  Although precognition is one aspect of psychic ability, in which someone knows something before it happens, it is often the main ability that people associate with psychic awareness.  There are many other psychic abilities.  Psychics utilize any one or all of the following senses:

Clairvoyance – “clear seeing” – People who are clairvoyant can receive mental images of people, places, or situations using their third eyes located in the center of the forehead rather than their physical eyes.

Clairaudience – “clear hearing” –Those with this ability can receive information without the use of physical ears.  This is also referred to as mental telepathy, which is the communication of information through thoughts.

Clairsentience – “clear feeling” – People with this ability can perceive information and psychic impressions through feelings.  They can feel emotions, as well as environmental factors such as heat, cold, though none of those things may be physically present. They are also known as empaths.

Clairscent – “clear smelling”- Those who are open to this ability can smell scents that are not physically present .

Clairgustance – “clear tasting” – People can taste substances without putting anything into their mouths.

Clairtangency – “clear touching” – Those with this ability can hold an object and pick up on the energetic impressions attached to it.  This is also know as psychometry.

Mediumship takes psychic ability a step further.  All mediums are psychic and have the additional abilities of sensing, discerning, and communicating with spirit energy. Some mediums are born with abilities rendering them able to communicate with spirits since they were young children, as has been the case for my children and me.  Other mediums may have developed their abilities over time.

Not all mediums use the same senses because not everyone has developed all psychic senses.  For me, mediumship is very natural.  I don’t enter an altered state to communicate with spirits and I receive information through all of my psychic senses.

Psychic and mediumship abilities are innate components of our spiritual birth right.  Though not all people fully develop their abilities to discern and communicate with all spirits, everyone has the potential to communicate with their own loved ones in spirit through thought, signs, symbols, or dream visits. When we engage our psychic and mediumship abilities, we learn that life  is much more than what we physically perceive and we cross the bridge between the Earth plane  and spirit world.

People always ask me how they can embrace their psychic abilities.  The main key for unlocking our abilities is releasing our fears associated with the unknown.  When we understand how to regulate the energies around us, we can let go of our fears and open to our abilities.

A a child, when I saw spirits, they frightened me.  I would be in my room and see a complete stranger standing there staring intently at me. I think the way the strangers appeared so suddenly scared me the most.  One moment I was alone in my room and the next there was a person standing there clear as day. As a result, I would always say with my mind, “I don’t want to see you. I don’t want to see you” every time I felt a spirit around me.

When I had my son, I knew he had the same abilities as me because he could see what I saw, felt, and heard at the young age of two.  I remember one day he saw my maternal grandfather in the house.  My son was standing in the dining room and said, “Pops, and pointed to the room’s corner.  I couldn’t see what he was looking at or pointing to because I was in the kitchen looking through a doorway.  When I walked from the kitchen to the dining room, I saw my grandfather standing there for only a few brief seconds and then he was gone.  Pops had died a year earlier, right after my son turned one.  We didn’t have any pictures of Pops in the house, so my son wouldn’t have been hard to easily identify him.  Somehow, my son was able to hear Pop’s name clairaudiently and therefore identify him by his name.

As he grew older, I taught him not to be afraid of spirits that visited him.  I let him know that relatives who showed up, wanted to say, “Hello” and any strangers most likely needed help.  I told him that if he got a fearful or uneasy felling from anyone, he could tell them to, “Go away.” I also taught him to shield his energy before communicating with any spirit.  The concept of shielding, helps block out energy, so that we have access to only the spirits we are trying to communicate with and we are not attracting any extraneous energies.

Learning how to shield our energies can help diffuse some of our fears about opening to our abilities.  Most often fear is a result of lack of knowledge.  Understanding and knowledge of our abilities diffuses fear and helps us engage our abilities.  When we work with our abilities, we can continue our spiritual relationships with our loved ones that have left this Earth.  Only then do we become fully aware that death is only that of the physical body; the soul is eternal.

One of the less known psychic senses is clairscent, or clear smelling.  People who are open to this sense can perceive smells and scents without a physical origin and without the use of the physical nose. These scents are originated in the spirit realm and are used to help alert us to the presence of spirits.

Often during a session, I will pick up on a certain perfume, food smell, or specific scent that is connected to a person who has passed on.  In a healing session with a client, I got the very distinct scent of pipe tobacco.  It came up quickly and enveloped me. As I communicated the scent to my client, an elderly man in spirit form presented himself and began communicating information.  The client recognized the information immediately and found comfort in the visit from his loved one.  The client needed that visit to help heal a deep emotional wound he was carrying.  The visit also helped the relative in spirit form, as he received forgiveness and was able to heal further on the other side.

Many people encounter familiar scents when their loved ones are visiting in spirit like the scent of roses or perhaps a mother’s perfume when a mom is present in spirit form. Like our other psychic abilities, clairscent is one we are wired for and can use if we just tune into it. Not everyone is comfortable seeing the spirit of a passed-on loved one, but clairscent is an ability that can gently let us know our loved ones are around us in spirit form.

Sometimes we see things out of the corners of our eyes–quick flashs of light, or fleeting shadows.  Many times we dismiss these sights as things we’ve imagined.  But they may be visits from spirits.  In general, spirits vibrate at a higher frequency than humans.  It may seem like they move quickly but since we vibrate at a slower rate, we struggle to see them.  I hold the belief that everyone has the ability to perceive spirits, especially those of passed-on loved ones or friends.

The psychic ability used to see spirits is called clairvoyance and means clear seeing. Clairvoyant ability resides in the sixth chakra located in the center of the forehead and is commonly referred to as the third eye. Some people are born with their third eyes wide open and are able to see spirits as three dimensional beings using both their regular eyes and third eyes. This has been the case in my life and is also true for both my children.  Other people may cultivate this sense over time.

For those not born with this ability, clairvoyance evolves in stages.  Initially, people may sense colors with the third eyes. They may view them and vibrating and pulsating hues. As they learn to meld their third eyes with their physical eyes, they might see spirits as orbs of color. When this sense advances, they may notices flashes of fuzzy whiteness or speckled colored dots using their physical eyes.  I have often heard people refer to this stage as seeing tiny sprinkles of moving colors like rainbow sprinkles from an ice cream cone suspended in air.

In the next stage of advancement people may see the colors take form. Sometimes people see a bright light that is shaped like a human body.  Others may see translucent pulsating lines that form the outline of a human body.  These two developments come right before someone fully sees spirits.  In working with my clients on psychic skills development, I have found a direct correlation between fear and the advancement of clairvoyance. The strength of this ability depends on the level of fear in people.  The less fear, the more openness to see spirits. As people release their fears, they also elevate their vibrations.  This helps in the perception of spirit.  The higher rate humans vibrate, the better they will be able to perceive spirits.

The last development of clairvoyance is being able to see the details of spirits with both the third eye and the use of physical eyes. People with this level of clairvoyant ability will be able to describe the physical attributes the spirit had in life such as hair color, body shape, and body size.  They will also perceive the clothing the spirit is projecting such as a hat, shoes, pants etc. Although the spirit no longer needs or uses any of these things that pertain to the physical world, he will convey them so his spirit is identifiable to the person in physical form. Everyone holds the internal wiring for clairvoyance, it us just a matter of connecting those wires to see the spirit projections in the physical world.

Many people experience ringing sounds and sensations in their ears.  Sometimes there may in fact be some underlying physical issues associated with the ear ringing or tinnitus.  Perhaps a person damaged an ear drum or a nerve at an early age. As you know from reading this blog, I hold the belief that all physical manifestations of illness and disease are rooted in an underlying spiritual or emotional issue. If we have ear issues, we need to ask ourselves, “What are we trying not to hear?” When we address the underlying root causes of tinnitus, we can release and heal the condition from our energies.

As a very young child, I could always see spirits.  But whenever they visited, my ears would ring a high pitched tone followed by what I would describe as a swooshing white-noise that amplified as the spirits drew closer to me.  I could see them and feel them, but I couldn’t communicate with the spirits.  My clairaudience was not developed.  Clairaudience means clear hearing.  It is the psychic sense mediums use to hear information and communicate telepathically with spirits.

Sometimes, we have the ability to communicate clairaudiently with spirit and we resist.  It doesn’t have to be a random spirit.  It can be the spirit of a loved one that has passed or a close friend.  Perhaps I blocked out my clairaudient ability intentionally out of fear.  I often sent the spirits away and hid under my covers until the ringing in my ears stopped, which signaled the spirits had left my room.  I suffered severe ear aches and ear infections as a child.  The situation finally remidied when I was a teen, which coincidentally was also the first time I used my clairaudience to communicate with a spirit.  I never had an ear infection after that point.  From time to time in my adult life, I have experienced brief ear ringing or white noise as my clairaudient ability has fine-tuned.  I no longer resist.  I allow the refining of my ability and the ringing subsides as soon as the transition is completed.

Everyone has the potential for mediumship with their own loved ones.  If you experience ringing in your ears, ask yourself who might be trying to communicate with you?  It could be a family member or perhaps a highly evolved being such as an angelic energy.  If you psychic shield yourself, you will be protected from any lower vibrational energy.  Sit for a moment quietly and see who is trying to reach out to you.  When you release your fears, and open your ears, you may find a message of love and hope waiting for you.

When the topic of psychic abilities comes into focus, most people think of clairvoyance or clear seeing.  For some reason everyone seems fascinated by the invariable third eye and the psychic sense it imparts. Many people literally see clairvoyance as the most prominent psychic ability. But in helping people develop their psychic abilities, I find that clairsentience or clear feeling is most commonly the first psychic sense to develop in people and often precedes the development of the third eye ability.  In fact people often develop clairsentince without even recognizing it.

Clairsentience is the psychic ability that allows us to perceive energy through feeling  It is governed by the sacral chakra point located just below the naval.  Many people speak of feeling things intuitively such as sensing the traits or emotions of other people.  They also feel spirit energy.  A client of mine said, she had a sense that someone was in the room with her in spirit form.  When I asked her to describe how she sensed that presence, she said, “I felt it.”  She further described the energy as warm and comforting–a loving presence.  She sensed the energy with her clairsentient psychic ability.

People who have developed their clairsentience abilities are also known as empaths.  This can be an issue for people, if they don’t know how to mange clairsentience.  Without psychic shielding, empaths can take in too much energy and have difficulty distinguishing between their own feelings and what they’re feeling from others.  In addition, they can become overwhelmed in crowded situations.  They may appear overly emotional from taking in too much energy of others.  All of this can be managed by learning to balance the sacral chakra and shielding one’s own energy.

In my experience as a teacher of psychic development, I have found that more people are clairsentient than clairvoyant.  In fact, I believe it is the first psychic sense to develop in people. I think because the sense uses the physical body to convey the energy, people dismiss it as a psychic ability.  Clairsentience is a true psychic ability and can help us understand other people and their experiences as well as our own, if we can recognize this ability and use it in a pragmatic way.
