We love the Mexican traditions of #Diadelosmuertos. It is a beautiful way to honor our loved ones that are no longer with us in physical form but are always connected to us energetically. This past summer, our best pal, Sampson crossed over. This is the first time I have written about it because I it has taken me quite a while to heal from missing his physical presence.

We are blessed by those soul who join us in this life. But we are also blessed when they cross over. Though they are no longer with us physically, they are always connected to us spiritedly. They can be with us to help us any time we need them. Death is a change in form because the soul is eternal. We never lose those we love. We are always connected; it’s a soul thing.

Old souls are very special.  They’re deeply connected to God and have lived many lifetimes.  They carry a great deal of wisdom, which they have accumulated over their lives and this knowledge is stored in their souls’ blueprints. Several current adults are old souls but there are many new children old souls coming to this Earth that are very advanced.  I have written about them before on this blog.  These children come to the Earth remembering a great deal about God and the connection to the Divine realm.  They can understand the mysteries of this world and seek to make it a better place.  They’re sent here to change and elevate the planetary grid.  In doing so, they raise the vibrational frequency of the Earth and its inhabitants.  Many of us have been given these old souls as our children, so we can help them to grow in their life work.

I knew my son, Brayden ,was an old soul because he was able to see and communicate with spirits just like me, when he was only a toddler.  He gravitated toward healing and balancing his own energy naturally.  When I was pregnant with Briella, I was told by my guides that she would be much more advanced than Brayden and me.  I didn’t really understand that idea until very recently.  Briella was always deeply compassionate, saving bugs and helping animals.  She didn’t like to eat meat,  just fresh raw fruits and vegetables. She liked to do Yoga on her own or sit outside and listen to the birds and the wind in the trees.  She was always very grounded, yet deeply insightful for such a young child.

This past summer, I was shopping in Home Goods with Briella.  She picked up a ceramic Buddha head and asked, “Who is this guy, mommy?”

I said, “That’s Buddha.”

She examined the head in her hands and then said, “I know him.  He’s a teacher.”  I studied her facial expressions, as her eyes widened and a smile grew across her face.  I asked her how she knew him.

“I used to know him.  He talks about compassion and God’s love and everyone matters not just people, even animals and insects; everyone is important.”

“How do you know this, Luvbug,” I questioned.  I knew nothing about Buddha having gone to Catholic school my whole life.  We didn’t have any books on Buddha and Briella attended Catholic school. I had not idea where she had been exposed to Buddha but she continued to tell me about him.

“He’s a friend of Jesus and one of God’s most faithful friends. God sent him here to remind people that God’s love is always with us and all around us,” she said with great excitement in her high-pitched little fairy voice.  She wanted the Buddha head for her room, so of course, I bought it for her.  When I got home, I called her father and told him what happened in the store.  He thought that she clearly had some connection to Buddha and as parents, we should just allow her to be herself. I totally agreed with his point-of-view.

About a month later, I had a client come to my office.  She was a Buddhist and studied in Tibet.  She was in the U.S. for some time, but planned on returning to Tibet to continue her work over there.  During the healing session, a lama (Tibetan Buddhist spiritual teacher) presented himself in spirit, as a guide.  I recognized his maroon a yellow colored robe.  I explained to the woman that he was there to guide her.  She already knew him and that he was a spirit guide for her.  He instructed me to tell my client about Briella and the Buddha connection in the store.  So I told her a shortened version of the story.  Then he said something I wasn’t prepared to hear.

“She was a student of Buddha,” he said.  I audibly repeated what he said, not actually comprehending it.  My client, on the table, placed her hand over her mouth.  Then after a moment, what he said registered in my head and I felt fear build in my chest.

“There has to be some mistake. I can’t possibly be the parent of a soul that studied with Buddha.  I get angry at people.  I curse; I’m basically an idiot” I said.  My client laughed.  Maybe she was agreeing with me.  But I really felt ill prepare to have a child who was so advanced. I’m just a healing medium and author.  I’m not a guru.  How could I help this child grow, when I know nothing about Buddha, Buddhism, compassion, or anything else she was teaching me about each day?

I later learned that is exactly why she was sent to me. One night this past fall, as I was rubbing her back and snuggling her before bedtime, she said, “Do you know why I picked you to be my mommy?” Of course I had no idea but I was ready to have my mind blown by a first-grader. At this point, it was common place for her to teach me new things each night.

“I picked you because I needed to remember how to heal myself, balance my energy , and use all my abilities.  You’re good at that stuff, so I picked you because you will help me with all of it.”  I wiped a few tears from my eyes because what she said resonated so deeply within me, it shook my soul like an earthquake.

“Well, I’m just so grateful that you picked me and I promise to always do my best to help you and love you,” I said, as I hugged her tightly.  Many parents of these old soul children, grew up in homes where they were misunderstood or didn’t fit in.  Perhaps they were clairsentient, or could communicate with spirits. As a result, many of these adults have felt uncomfortable being themselves in this world.  The old soul children are with those parents to help them love and accept themselves unconditionally–to shed the experiences from the past that hold them back.  These children make their parents remember who they are and why they are here.  It is all part of the Divine plan that is unfolding.  If you have one or more of these old souls in your family, give them the freedom to grow and be who they are supposed to be.  Love and nurture them because they are here to change this world one soul at a time.

I think as adults, sometimes we get stuck in the ego part because of insecurities and other projections. When we get wrapped up in the ego and showing off, trying to validate and prove our worth, our true essence can’t be shared with others. We can’t ever be fully present because we’re too busy trying to impress and hide our true selves from others. We don’t want to reveal our vulnerabilities but in fact those same vulnerabilities are what makes us human and deeply connected to others.  When we can love and accept ourselves, then we can be present with others without all those fears in the way. Take a lesson from a five or six-year-old! Observe self-love, letting go of the ego, and how to be fully present and love life!

Sometimes we meet people, in this lifetime that seem to have strange connections to us. The interactions are marked by interesting familiarity and often immediate comfort levels, as though we’ve always know them, though we may have just met them for the first time.  There are no coincidences in life. We meet everyone we’re supposed to encounter, including those members of our soul family–kindred souls that incarnate with us and are here with their lessons and love, to aid us in life.

Have you ever run into an acquaintance or co-worker and immediately felt like you knew them? Often these people are not only a vibrational fit but they’re also members of our soul family and they’re here to help us.  They seem to step into our lives at the times, when we need them most.  We sometimes refer to them as angels incarnate. Though they may only be in our lives for a short time , they may have a major impact on it.

We may also have soul family members that are in our immediate families like grandparents, siblings, parents, spouses, children, cousins, etc.  These members of our soul family have chosen to incarnate closely with us and share in our experiences. Many of them will bring certain conditions and lessons in the relationships to help us grow in attributes like patience, love, compassion, and kindness.  Each person in our life has an important lesson and experience to give us, though we may not always be ready to receive it.  Those in our families often have the greatest lessons to share with us.

There are several ways to recognize soul family members on Earth.  You may feel strong emotional connections to them in a short amount of time.  You might know when they’re trying to communicate with you by phone, text, email, or telepathically. For example, the person may pop into your head, so you call her and she tells you that she was just thinking of you. Their energy feels  familiar and comfortable–like you can be completely honest and tell them anything.  You often sense there is a deeper reason why you’re connected. Our soul family is always with us.  If we take a step back and look at those people in our lives, we can pick out which ones are part of our soul family.  Be grateful to your soul family members because they help make your life on Earth exciting, challenging, and loving.

Angels have always been around to help guide and support us but they will only intervene upon our request.  They will never insert themselves without approval.  Engaging the angelic realm can really accentuate our lives on Earth.  When we learn how to work with the angels, we can call on them any time we need assistance.  They may even send us signs to validate their visits and support.

The angles are non-human, Divine messengers who intercede for us—a connection between the Divine realm and Earth plane.  They can help us in many ways but here is a list of some primary ways they may assist: Resolve conflict, find solutions and new ideas, increase our vibrations, bring peace and love in our lives, and relay our messages to and from the spirit realm.  They are here to assist us but just like spirit guides, they will only engage after you ask them.  They will not insert themselves without approval because they do not want to affect our free will.

To engage the angels, you just need to use your mind and ask for their help.  You can also do this by asking verbally.  I always ask the angels to help support a peaceful vibration in my home at night, so everyone can rest comfortably.  If I know someone is ill, I will ask the angles to help support that person for whatever is in their highest intentions.  If a friend is working through conflict, I will ask the angels to support that friend during the difficult time.  The angelic realm is always listening to our requests, whether they are verbal or non-verbal.

Sometimes the angels will send us signs to validate their visits. Feathers are something that humans associate with angels because in most artist depictions, angels bare lofty feathered wings.  Often, after we have requested something from the angelic realm, we find feathers.  We may see tiny feathers floating in the air.  We may also find them in the most obscure places.  If we ask for a sign, they will send us one and if we miss it, they’ll send another one.  You may also recognize the angels by their loving vibration.  They vibrate at a higher rate than most human spirits.  When they’re around you feel filled with love.

God’s angels are always ready to support us.  All we have to do it ask.  When we include the angelic realm, our lives flow in a gentle loving rhythm.  They can really enhance our lives in a beautifully loving way.  Look for the gentle symbol of feathers that they send to let you know they’ve been around you!

As the holidays approach, most of us are running around buying gifts for friends and family but we don’t always stop and remember the gifts we already have in our lives. The greatest gifts are the ones we cannot buy. The holiday season is a time for us to think of ways we can acknowledge and enhance the existing gifts in our lives.

At the age of seven, I asked Santa for a magic wand. I figured I’d cut to chase and keep his job simple and I thought I had outwitted him, as well. Rather than asking for a long list of things that I might not get, I could use magic wand to conjure up anything my heart desired. On Christmas morning that year, I unwrapped a magic wand but when I waved it, nothing happened. It was just a plastic toy. I was so disappointed that Santa had misunderstood my request and my dream of magically manifesting everything I wanted dissipated like a thin mist. When I grew older, I realized that I didn’t need a magic wand to manifest everything I wanted in life. That wisdom is a gift we all have.

As adults, we can often get caught up in the materialism of the holidays. Our minds are constantly inundated from the inception of Thanksgiving onward with sales and advertisements everyone time we watch a television, read a newspaper, or walk into a store. We’re constantly reminded of all the things we think we want and need and it becomes engrained in our heads, until we visit the stores like programmed robots and buy everything we see.

If we take a step back and look at our lives, we will find that many of us already have everything we need. Many of us have already received the greatest gifts in our lives. These gifts develop and grow, when we share them with others.We may be blessed with gift of unconditional love. We may experience this gift from a partner, spouse, family member, or pet. When we know we’re loved unconditionally, we’re deeply grounded and connected to that source of love.

Some of us may enjoy the gift of perfect health. This gift frees us of all physical, mental, and emotional ailments and limitations. With this gift, we’re able to achieve anything we choose in life.

Family is a wonderful gift that unites us to our loved ones. At times, families may challenge us with their varied personalities and experiences melding into one. Yet, they’re a source of connection and the core foundation for us. Just like leaves on a plant, we’re rooted in our connection to our families.We’re united to our family members on Earth and those is spirit for the experiences they share and the lessons they teach us.

The gift of friendship carries a bond that can sometimes be stronger than family. We often hear the expression, “You can’t choose your family members but you can choose your friends.” Our friends make us smile, give us support when we need it, and are there for us though both good and challenging times. Those who have mastered the art of friendship understand the nature of this gift; before you can have many friends, you need to first learn to be a good friend to others.

Many of us enjoy the gifts of our talents. Our talents are unique skills and individualized assets that add enhance our lives and reinforce our purposes on Earth. We may be talented in the arts, sciences, or athletic abilities just to name a few of the categories. Like the other gifts mentioned, the gifts of our talents are enhanced when we share them with others.

The gift of Divine connection is a magnificent present. The Divine connection bestows a variety of sub-gifts in its wake. It yields joy, love, guidance, compassion, and peace. When we’re connected to the Divine source, our lives are aligned and balanced.

We are all gifted in different ways and the holidays give us a chance to focus on our special gifts.This holiday season, take some time and ponder the gifts you already have in your lives. Think of ways you can develop those existing gifts and how you can share them with others. May your holidays be filled with joy, love, and peace.

I have written about the psychic sense clairsentience on this blog before.  I have also discussed children and their openness to energy.  Most children are born with their clairsentience activated.  As parents of these highly sensitive and deeply compassionate children, we need to recognize the signs of this ability, so that we can help support these children in understanding and working with their ability.

Clairsentience is the psychic ability to feel energy.  People with this ability can sense energy in a place as well as the energy of other people.  An example of this ability is demonstrated when we walk into a new place and can feel the energetic imprints it holds such as sadness, anger, or happiness.  A clairsentient child may be able to stand next to  total strangers and be repelled or scared by people if they carry darkness or perhaps anger in their energetic fields.

Parents of clairsentient children need to look for a few key signs that indicate this child is sensitive to energy.  First, observe the child’s behavior in crowded places.  Does the child become overwhelmed?  After the Ocean County Saint Patrick’s Day parade  one year, I took my son to visit my brother, Kyle, at his work.  At the time, my brother was a bartender at the Bamboo bar in Seaside Heights.  The bar was just a few short blocks from the parade.  I think Brayden was about seven at the time and they ordinarily wouldn’t let children in Bamboo, but they knew us and also knew we were just visiting my brother.  I was carrying a diaper bag in one hand and Brayden’s hand in another. As we stepped through the door, we walked into an undulating wave of green.  Everyone danced while sporting their favorite green clothes paying homage to their Irish heritages.  My brother offered Brayden a soda and he said, “No.”  In fact, he said, “Mommy we have to leave. There are too many people here and I can’t breathe.”  I could read the look of panic in his face as his eyes widened in desperation.  We weren’t packed like sardines, but there were a lot of people in there and a line of others waiting to get in that snaked around the block.  I realized Brayden was overwhelmed by all the energy in there and I had not bubbled him up before we entered the place. We quickly exited and as soon as we got outside, he felt much better.

Sometimes clairsentient children can become overly excited or what seems like hyperactive in crowded places.  Instead of feeling overwhelmed by all the energy, these children feel wired and supercharged.  They may become hard to manage in densley populated places like malls, movies, concerts, and schools.  This is another response to these children taking too much energy in the sacral chakra and not being able to process it.

Clairsentient children can also have disrupted sleep because they can sense spirit energy.  When Brayden would sleep at night, he would always wake up, if he had a spirit visitor in his room.  Once I started clearing the house and tunneling light each night, he rested soundly. Unfortunately for all of us in the house, that process took a long time to learn but I eventually got the knack of it. 

So how can we help our children who are sensitive to energy?  First, as parents, we need to psychic shield them. I list a few psychic shielding exercises in this blog and I also have some in my book.  Secondly, we want to get into the habit of clearing the energy in our homes each night.  This ensures that energetic imprints and energy from the day will be cleared rendering the child unaffected by it.  I list two methods for space clearing this blog:  Tunneling light and the Silver Columns Exercise. In addition, as you physically clean your home each week, you should also use a physical method to  clean it energetically.  I use sage but you can use other methods as well.

When the child is old enough to explain the concept of clairsentience, you can teach him some methods of psychic shielding to keep his energy in check.  In addition, you should teach him to place his hand over the sacral chakra.  As he envisions it, the chakra should fit nicely under the palm of his hand.  If it is any large that the palm–like the size of a cantaloupe that is s sign that the chakra is out of balance and taking in too much energy.  He just has to keep his hand over it until he sees it as healthy and fitting under his palm. All children are Divine gifts, but clairsentient children are sent here to help us get in touch with energy and become more aware of what is around us.  Parents of these children have a special task.  They need to help these special souls balance their energy and their psychic sense, so they can live out their lives to the fullest potential.

When people come for a healing session with me, we always sit for a few minutes and discuss how I work. For many people, the term “healing medium” is unknown. Even if they’ve read my website or my book, it helps to further clarify what to expect before the healing session. I explain that I will scan their energy and help them clear whatever needs to be cleared–maybe they’re storing past trauma that is holding them back in life,or they might be recovering from some type of addiction and are ready to clear the energy associated with it.  Then I mention that I will describe whoever is present in spirit and with the client’s permission, I will allow the spirit or spirits to come through and convey whatever needs to be communicated.

People often ask, “What if no one in spirit comes through for me?”  I assure them that there is always someone in spirit that will come through.  The spirits may be of passed-on family members, friends, or guides.  I never know who will present themselves in spirit, until we are in the session.  Sometimes we will speak to a spirit or two and then others may show up later in the session.

The order with which the spirits present themselves and speak during a session is coordinated in the spirit realm; I’m merely a conduit between two places.  The spirits always give validating information such as method of passing, certain things they wore or had an affinity for, they may say certain phrases and idioms, or highlighting key aspects of their personalities.  I always convey the information in the exact tone and infection, with which it is communicated to me. Spirits may not always convey the information that people want to hear but they relay the information that needs to be heard. They may address unresolved conflict or explain the root causes for issues they faced on the Earth plane.  They may give advice about what they’ve learned about family behaviors or illness manifestations, so those on Earth can change their life patterns.  Sometimes they just want to pop in and let the person know they’re there to love and support them.

The spirits that come through in a session are not Earth-bound. They have crossed over and reside in the spirit realm but God allows them to be present for the session, to aid their loved ones.  Occasionally, a person who committed suicide may present himself in a healing session.  These are suicide victims who have been crossed over into the Light and are now in a healing place.  They generally cannot speak for themselves because of the nature of their healing but someone in spirit will speak on their behalf.  Again, God allows these spirits to leave the healing place and convey pertinent information to their loved ones for healing.

In a healing session, we may meet one spirit or several; sometimes it’s like a family reunion with lots of spirits popping in and sharing information.  Those in spirit are always connected to us, even after they leave the Earth.  Through Divine grace, we are given the opportunity to continue a spiritual relationship with their souls.  They can help support, guide, and heal us; all we have to do is ask.

Much of what I know about the afterlife comes from a lifetime of communicating and working with spirits on the other side.  I share my experiences and knowledge because I think it helps others gain deeper insight into the spirit world.  I also think when we gain knowledge we release fears of the unknown.  Casting light on these topics dispels the dark veil that often hangs over them.  One of these gray shrouded topics involves the levels of spirits in the afterlife.

Many people hold the belief that when spirits cross, they automatically become God-like with omniscience, and omnipotence.  This is not the case.  Spirit evolution takes time on the other side but it is a process initiated by the level of spirituality a person is at when he physically passes-on.  In others words if someone had a substance abuse issue in life, he will not have substance abuse issue on the other side, but he will have to work out the root of why he had the issue and continue to heal on the other side.

As you know from previous articles on this blog, if a person committed suicide (not to be confused with accidental overdose passings involving substance abuse), she may need to be crossed over because this type of soul can get lost in darkness and become Earthbound.  Once crossed, a suicide soul will go to a healing place on the other side. She will not have immediate access to the Earth plane.  In addition, if she were to visit through a medium, she would not be able to speak for herself, someone would speak on her behalf.  In time, as the soul heals she will granted additional rights to access her loves ones on Earth.  The rights of a suicide victim are limited not as a form of punishment but rather, so she can be concentrate on the deep healing of her own soul.

If a person was abusive and left the Earth plane without having worked out that issue, he will continue to resolve it on the other side.  He may need forgiveness from those he abused (particularly if they were members of his family), as part of his healing process.  This type of soul will not have the same rights and access to the Earth plane as someone who had a passing without any major issues.  The abuser will not be able to visit those on the Earth plane and demand their forgiveness; he needs to be invited back.

If someone passed of substance abuse, depending on the length of the substance issue on Earth, she will have to work the root cause out on the other side.  She may need apologize to those closest to her that she hurt with her abuse problem and she will have to resolve her issues, before she’s assigned a job on the other side.   As her soul heals, she will be granted access to visit her family and clear the energy between them.

Spirits who pass under ordinary circumstances such as illness, sudden accident, etc. who do not have the above listed issues to resolve, will have readily have access to the Earth plane and their loved ones. Often, they gain knowledge and information that they did not have when they were in physical form.   This doesn’t mean they won’t have minor issues to clear with family of friends, but they can resolve them through signs, symbols, and dream visits.

On the other side, our souls continue to evolve and grow.  Sometimes that involves clearing some of the energy they have with those on the Earth plane.  Once clear, the souls will be assigned jobs and continue to work on their spiritual paths on the other side. Our job levels are related to our soul levels. For example, some souls will cross those on the Earth plane, others may work in the transition area.  Some may be guides, while other higher souls work with the spirit guides of others.  The more we clear, the higher level our souls can attain.

People always ask if spirits are all around us on the Earth plane.  The answer is “yes” and “no”.  The “yes” part is because spirits are always visiting their loved ones on the Earth plane and spirits are always transitioning to the other side, so there are always spirits here–technically.  The “no” part is because the spirits are not here perminently.  Often they’re just passing through.  Even those who are Earth-bound eventually cross over at some point.  I decided that it was time to do a Question and Answer post about the top ten questions I am most frequently asked. 1.  Do spirits attend their funerals?
Sometimes they do, if they want to help their family and friends with the transition of their passings.

2.  What Are Some Signs Of Spirits?
Spirits are comprised of electromagnetic energy–the same type of energy in our TV, light, and radio waves.  As a result, when spirits are around, their fields may interact and disrupt the above mentioned fields.  The disturbances may manifest as sound not working on the television, flickering of lights, or radio stations losing their frequencies.  These are just a few of the signs of spirits but the url attached to this answer gives greater detail into this answer.   

3.  Why Do Spirits Visit Us?
Spirits can visit the Earth plane for a variety of reasons.  They may help a loved one cross over to the other side.  They may want to show their support of a particular event such as a birth of a child.  There are many reasons why spirits come to visit us on the Earth plane but most often their visits are meant to help us heal.  

4.  Are There Jobs On The Other Side?
On the other side, the souls of our loved ones continue to learn and grow.  Once they have worked through their transitions, they will be assigned jobs.  Their jobs may have something to do with the path the followed on the Earth or they may have something to do with their methods of passing.  

5.  What Is A Medium?
A medium is a person who can discern and communicate with spirits.  

6.  What Happens to the Soul of a Miscarried Baby?
On a spiritual level, a miscarriage is the soul of the child saying, “It is not the right time.”  It does not mean that the right time will never come to fruition.  That soul may choose to come back to the same parents at a later time or it may incarnate to a different set of parents. Many women carry healthy babies to full term after miscarriages.

7.  Why Does God Take Our Loved Ones
God does not take our loved ones from us, nor does God abandon us in our times of sadness.  We are the ones that sometimes shut God out by the darkness of our grief.  God is benevolent, loves us unconditionally, and allows our loved ones to still be with us in spirit form.  This is a magnificent gift, if we are willing to accept it.  Our loved ones are only a thought away from us. We just need to unwrap this gift of spirituality from God.  When we open it, we find the spirits of our loved ones waiting there for us. 

8. Is there a Spiritual Significance of Ringing In The Ears?
As you know from reading this blog, I hold the belief that all physical manifestations of illness and disease are rooted in an underlying spiritual or emotional issue. If we have ear issues, we need to ask ourselves, “What are we trying not to hear?” When we address the underlying root causes of tinnitus, we can release and heal the condition from our energies. If you experience ringing in your ears, ask yourself who might be trying to communicate with you?  It could be a family member or perhaps a highly evolved being such as an angelic energy.  If you psychic shield yourself, you will be protected from any lower vibrational energy.  Sit for a moment quietly and see who is trying to reach out to you.  When you release your fears, and open your ears, you may find a message of love and hope waiting for you. 

9. What Happens to the Soul of a Suicide Victim?
Once someone reaches out to a suicide victim and helps him through the death state, the soul can begin healing.  In my experience, suicide victims go to a healing place on the other side.  They’re there for as long as they need healing.  Some souls choose not to heal.  They reject their guides and they literally roam in darkness.  But God is benevolent and the door to healing is always open, when they are ready. 

10.  Are Mediumship and Psychic Abilities Inherited?
These abilities are innate parts of our soul make-up from the Divine.  Whether we develop them or not depends on us and our aptitudes to release the fears that bind us.  In families where there are several generations that have developed abilities, it is not that the abilities are inherited but rather the abilities are accepted and each generation chooses to embrace them.
